The Company

About
Idlewild

Idlewild is the producer behind the principal. We find what others have written off — dormant IP, undervalued assets, ideas without a champion — and build the narrative that makes them undeniable.

Then we bring the money: sponsors, partners, capital, the people who need to be in the room. We stay accountable until the thing exists, and we assemble the team that delivers it.

In the age of AI when content is infinite and instant, the scarce thing is judgment — knowing which potential is real, which stories will work, and how to build the strategy that gets them there. That judgment, drawn from twenty-five years across government, entertainment, and the public square, is what Idlewild is built on.

We’re not an agency and we don’t run your marketing. We’re your first three moves and your last one. Find. Fuel. Fund. Finish.

The Name
Why
“Idlewild.”

Before it became John F. Kennedy International Airport, it was Idlewild — the name carried by the golf course and the open, low-lying land the airport rose from. The word itself describes a place caught between idle and wild: ground that is neither cultivated nor untouched. Fallow, but full of potential.

We took the name because that in-between is exactly where the work lives — between fallow and the future, between what is here and what is possible. A story, like that ground, is potential waiting to be cleared for takeoff. Idlewild is where a narrative stops lying idle, and takes flight.

The Operator

We know what it's
like to lead
something important.

Idlewild is founded and operated by Erik Løkkesmoe. For twenty-five years — across federal communications, major movie studios, statewide civic campaigns, and cabinet-level speechwriting — he has built the campaigns and moments that made overlooked stories impossible to ignore.

That work spanned government leaders, celebrities, political candidates, film and television releases, live entertainment, statewide social-impact initiatives, and product launches — a career-long pattern of spotting real potential before the market did.

That breadth is the point. A company built on idle potential needs an operator who has found it — and carried it through — in nearly every arena that makes culture.

He has written remarks for figures from Dolly Parton to Steph Curry to Members of Congress and Cabinet officials; launched Amazing Grace and promoted 100+ films, shows, books, and artists with an audience-mobilization model still replicated today; produced record-breaking live and simulcast theatrical events; led marketing for 1,200 live shows a year with a major independent touring company; and co-led uniting every professional sports franchise in Tennessee behind a single cause.

The conviction underneath it is simple: the best things are lying idle. AI made content cheap and infinite — so the scarce thing now is the judgment to know which potential is real and what strategy will work. That is what Idlewild is built to do.

What Built the Judgment

25 Years of momentum, moments, and media.

Every instinct behind Idlewild was earned somewhere — in a studio, a federal agency, a touring company, a governor's office, a room where the story had to land.

The résumé looks scattered until you notice it's one instinct — finding what others left idle — practiced in every room that matters.

Film & Entertainment
VP Strategic Partnerships & Outreach

At AEG and Walden Media, launched Amazing Grace using audience-mobilization strategies that became an industry model — a film that reached beyond its release window into civic conversation. Co-founder of Different Drummer and Aspiration Media, running 100+ campaigns for major studios, networks, publishers, and labels.

Federal Government
Political Appointee  ·  Head of Communications

Presidential appointee at the National Endowment for the Humanities, leading communications for a federal cultural agency. Nearly twelve years in Washington: press secretary on Capitol Hill, communications on Senate campaigns, and cabinet-level speechwriting. High-stakes message architecture where every word had to land and every launch had a real window.

Live Entertainment
VP of Marketing

Built and led a 25-person in-house team at Outback Presents, the nation's leading independent live entertainment promoter, marketing 1,200 shows a year. A working laboratory in how live audiences become cultural momentum — and how to build it on purpose.

Civic Mobilization
Senior Advisor

For the Tennessee Governor's Initiative, co-led the effort to unify every professional sports franchise in the state — Titans, Predators, Grizzlies, Nashville SC — behind a single civic cause. Co-led a 1,700-person mobilization event to launch a foster care initiative. Crafted narrative architecture for statewide initiatives with nonprofits, state departments, and philanthropists.

Speechwriting / Narrative Design
White House-Appointed Speechwriter

Remarks, keynotes, and scripts for Cabinet members, Members of Congress, Senate candidates, Dolly Parton, and Steph Curry. High-stakes moments where the words had to do more than inform — they had to move people.

Many of the best
ideas and stories
are lying idle.

If you're building something with real potential — a brand, a place, a story the market hasn't caught up to yet — let's talk.
